Can We Talk?

What do you think of my pink glasses? This was my 50s attire from over at the P.U.P.S. Spring fundraiser, Rock N Roll 50s Revival, May 31st. We really had a good time! I liked my glasses so much I decided to have this picture here for my Publisher's Note page. If you're interested in animals and P.U.P.S., click onto the PUPS Site

"Can We Talk?" was a catch phrase from the early days of Joan Rivers, the comedianne and talk show host. I liked Joan Rivers and her take on fashion, remember she was the instigator of the "fashion police". She seemed to be an expert on every subject of the day or at least she'd touch on the news of the day. For me, I'm not a comedian, a fashion icon or I haven't done too many public speeches. However, I have done some emcee work with events from the publications I've published over the years. Just once I'd like to have a microphone that works well and a captive audience to go along with it. I'd love to tell people about exploring God's word and many godly devotional writings that are out these days.

Since I'm talking about exploring in my note for this issue, why don't we all explore an old hymnal at our churches? Pick out the old favorites and sing songs of worship from the hymnals again instead of on an overhead screen. I've found very seldom do tears flow from singing from the new contemporary songs, but it's a different story from the old favorite hymns such as Amazing Grace, The Old Rugged Cross, or Blessed Assurance. The Gaither songs are so spiritual-felt as well, like Majesty, Because He Lives, He Touched Me...just to name a few. These are the songs that are loved by the older generation like me. I hope they never fade.

I'd like people to talk more about the Lord's saving grace and not think it's something to keep secret. Here again, I read the following shared by my cousin Sandra Sue on facebook and I think it's something worthwhile. I don't know who the author is, but here it is:

"Imagine Getting to Heaven and God Saying This to You..."

"Before I laid the foundation of the earth, I thought of you and of the days you would live on earth. I planned out the people and the places I would give you. I laid out your neighbors and your workplace, the places you would attend school, and your family; I laid out enough days to do all the good works that I purposed for you, and I equipped you with all you would need to accomplish those purposes here. I filled you with my Spirit to encourage and remind you and lead you. I gave you my Word so you would know me and know what to do. I gave you people to run with and people who needed me...Let's talk about how all that went."

_____

Now if that isn't a movitator...I don't know what is! That's what is so neat about God. He sends people through the guiding of the Holy Spirit (like my cousin Sue and my friend Dottie Mounts too) to plod me along and encourage me when I need it the most. I love hanging around people like this! Love to talk to people like this! Then share that "Talk" with others so they can be motivated and challenged to share God's word too!

We all need to think like this.
